Grain-Free & Vegan Dog Biscuits – Handmade in Our UK Dog Bakery

View Our Products

Here at David’s Dog Deli all our dog biscuits are hypoallergenic, vegan (no animal proteins), grain-free and hand baked by us (the two Davids) in our bakery dedicated to sensitive dogs.

The ingredients in our treats have been approved by our veterinarians and the biscuits purchased by them to give to their own dogs.

Our treats are all grain-free (wheat-free) and plant-based, so they’re completely free from common allergens like chicken, beef, and other animal proteins. We only use ingredients that are tasty, moreish, and beneficial to dogs’ health. This means that we never use colourings (natural food is never bright blue), chemical flavourings, and absolutely no rawhide.

We don’t use chemical preservatives, just dehydration to preserve our biscuits.

Our Dog Treats Are Vet-Approved

We’re proud to share that our handmade dog treats are now being given to dogs at Newcastle Vets4Pets new senior dog clinic . They have chosen our Beetroot, Turmeric & Coconut Oil Walkies because of the many health properties the ingredients have, including….

  • Digestion support
  • Joint, mobility & arthritis support
  • Anti-inflammatory properties
  • Skin & coat health

Hypoallergenic = Less Likely to Cause an Allergic Reaction

A dog’s digestive system is different to a human which means foods common to us may need to be avoided in some dogs.

Some of the top dog allergens include wheat (and other grains), chicken, and beef. Our dog treat recipes never include any of these ingredients, nor do they contain any unnecessary fillers which just add weight but don’t have any nutritional benefit.

Grain-Free Allergy-Control

Although not all dogs have an allergy to grains, those that do could have some uncomfortable and potentially dangerous symptoms. These symptoms can range from itchy skin, ear and eye problems to a sore, bloated tummy.

Skin Issues

  • Itchy Skin
  • Dandruff-like flaking
  • Redness sometimes caused by the dog attacking the skin (like having an itch that can’t be scratched, but they try)

Ear & Eye Problems

  • Reoccurring ear and eye infections
  • Constant head shaking (trying to shake out the cause of discomfort)
  • Weeping and sore eyes

Tummy Problems

  • Swelling and bloated tummy
  • Runny poos (uncomfortable for the dog and impossible to pick up)

Digestive Health

Most of us dog owners have had a time when we dread the dog walk as we pretty much know how it will turn out… Poos that just can’t be picked up.

We have found that there are many ingredients in dog food and treats that can cause sore, bloated and windy tummies. These ingredients can and should be avoided for some dogs and can include wheat and other grains, some meats like chicken and beef, some preservatives, colourings and additives. Our treats are free of all of these.

Us and some of our customers with dogs with bad tummies recommend our Beetroot, Turmeric & Coconut Oil Walkies. Like all of our Walkies treats they are small enough to pop in your pocket for walks and give as good behaviour rewards or use as training aids.

No Chicken, Beef or Any Other Meats Used

All our handmade dog treats are vegan so are naturally free of all meats and animal proteins. Chicken and beef are two of the top dog allergens, we work this way as we want as many dogs as possible to be able to enjoy them.

What we do use to bake our biscuits is a base of gram flour in everything, a variety of fruit and vegetables, and if the product doesn’t have 100% peanut butter (palm oil and xylitol-free) coconut oil is the fat.

Lactose-Free Recipes

Like us humans some dogs are lactose intolerant. This means that although they may love the taste of cheese, it can create an uncomfortable and windy problem. We have had many customers that have said that they never thought their dog could have a cheesy flavour treat because of what it does to the dog’s tummy, but they can now.

We use nutritional yeast in our cheezy basil Walkies and Cheezy Petzels. Nutritional yeast is what many people use to give a cheesy flavour to some foods, but it is vegan and doesn’t contain lactose.

Guilt-Free Regular Treating for Sensitive Dogs

Our Walkies range has become popular over the years with dog owners that want to be kind and treat their dog regularly but have struggled to find a suitable treat.

Our Walkies range is bags of lots of small bone-shaped biscuits that can be placed straight in your pocket without fear of a smelly residue or crumbling. These biscuits can be broken to any size that is required.
